The Fight For Glass-Steagall Continues

May 19, 2010 -- After being briefed on the vote in the Senate today, in which the Obama administration's effort to end debate, by invoking cloture -- to prevent a debate on the Cantwell-McCain Amendment, S.A. 3884, to the Senate bill 3217, the Dodd financial reform bill -- was defeated, Congressional candidate Summer Shields issued the following statement:

"On behalf of my many constituents who have joined me in mobilizing to secure passage of the Cantwell-McCain amendment to Senate bill 3217, to restore the Constitutional principle of regulated banking, I want to express my continued support to Sen. Cantwell, and to salute her and Sen. Feingold, for voting against Sen. Reid's effort to shut down the debate, before the Cantwell-McCain amendment is heard.

"We must continue our mobilization, as the City of London forces, and their Wall Street allies, will do anything to stop the Cantwell McCain amendment from becoming law. This is especially true now, given that this fight is now an international one, as the German government, through its regulatory agency BAFIN, moved today to restrict short sales on government bonds, related to the so-called TARP II bailout.

"The kind of crazed and immoral speculation that BAFIN moved to restrict, and that the Cantwell McCain amendment would halt, is plunging the world into a Dark Age, as the global financial system is heading toward complete disintegration. I and my campaign, along with the other LaRouche Congressional campaigns, pledge that we will not stop, in our efforts to end the speculative nightmare, by making the Cantwell McCain amendment the law of the land, and then implementing the full LaRouche Plan, to rebuild our nation's, and the world's, physical economy.

"As to President Obama, his effort to stop this debate, provides more evidence that his loyalty is to the Anglo-Dutch imperial banking system, and not to the people of this country. Therefore, I again state my resolve to see that he is impeached, before he inflicts more damage to our nation, and our people."
