Pelosi Works for Wall Street, Not the American People
June 25, 2010 -- There is very good reason to suspect that President Franklin Roosevelt is turning in his grave right now. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and the Obama Administration have again been caught red-handed defending Wall Street and the City of London interests by attempting to deny Senator Blanche Lincoln's provision on the House financial reform bill greatly limiting the use of financial derivatives by banking institutions. Though it is no Glass-Steagall, under this provision banks will be required to get rid of their derivatives departments or lose Federal protection.
Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Treasury Secretary Geithner and President Obama have intervened personally to crush this provision on behalf of Wall Street and The City of London, despite the growing chorus in the American population in favor of Glass-Steagall regulation. Take note of those names-- they may all be tried for treason very soon!
Our Constitution and Declaration of Independence state that it is the responsibility of government to promote the general welfare of the citizens of these United States, and if those officials who have been entrusted with such responsibility conspire and become destructive of those ends they must be removed by the people.
Let "the money changers [flee] from their high seats in the temple of our civilization" so that "we may now restore that temple to ancient truths." Let us once again "apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit." (Franklin Roosevelt's First Inaugural Address)
