Victory in Texas-- Now California!
March 3, 2010 -- Last night, as the polls in the 22nd district of Texas were coming to a close, eyes were rolling in Washington D.C. Today heads are rolling. My fellow LaRouchePAC organizer and candidate to the U.S. Congress, Kesha Rogers, is now the newly elected democratic nominee in that district. This victory is the shock felt 'round the world and transforms the international political context that we find ourselves in today. Voters didn't just come out to put a candidate into Congressional office-- citizens across the 22nd Congressional district saw themselves as part of a national mobilization to impeach Obama and save NASA, the crux of our American identity, and to guarantee a future for this nation. For our citizens, the vote for Kesha was a call to arms saying, "We want our republic back!"
In this context the crisis in California takes center stage. Formerly the aerospace and industrial giant of the United States, and the 9th largest economy in the world, a sovereign default of California has the possibility to be the trigger for the entire, doomed world financial system--it makes the Greek crisis pale in comparison. Lurking behind the destruction of California, and the world, is Lord Jacob Rothschild and the Inter-Alpha group of banks, an apparatus which Lyndon LaRouche and his movement have been fighting since his debate with Keynesian economist Abba Lerner in 1971. This apparatus is what threatens to destroy not only our nation, but civilization generally--this is what is behind the Obama presidency today, and what has been at the heart of the London controlled international financial collapse for the past 40 years.
It was Lord Jacob Rothschild who gave the green light to fascist George Shultz's “Schwarzenegger Project,” at a vetting session at one of his country estates, on September 23, 2002, to install Schwarzenegger as governor of California and begin the next phase of the controlled disintegration of the world monetary system.
Schwarzenegger has successfully carried out their mission, driving California into the status of an ungovernable state no longer capable of sustaining its 35+ million population. For the last seven years, he has bullied his way through one short-term legislative budget compromise after another, each one worse than the last. He has “achieved” balanced budgets by cutting key components of the state's social welfare system, with health care for the poor, sick and elderly targeted most viciously, but also with major cuts in law enforcement and public safety, infrastructure, the state work force, and, especially education. In the last sessions, he has grabbed funds from municipal and county governments, imposed onerous fees, and floated bonds, mostly to pay debt on previous borrowing.
In the meantime, the state economy has crashed, with record levels of home foreclosures, and near-record levels of unemployment, as most of the state's basic industry and construction have been shut down, and farm income has collapsed.
In the last two years, Schwarzenegger has presided over four special sessions, to hack over $60 billion from the budget. At the moment, the state still has a $20 billion shortfall. While Schwarzenegger blames the shortfall on a “dysfunctional” legislature which he says spends too much, a broken tax system, and over-protected and pampered unions, arguing that this has led to “too much spending,” in reality, there is a revenue crisis, with revenues collected by the state falling over 27% this year, compared to last -- which was an awful year for collections!
With the legislature now in special session, there is a Democratic Party plan to cut spending by $5 billion, leaving it well short of covering the $20 billion deficit. Other than the proposal to sell off eleven state-owned buildings to private companies, which the state will then rent back -- at an increased cost over the long-term! -- the only proposals on the table are for further cuts in state employees, and gouging more from children's health care, seniors, and education.
This background leads us to the crisis in California's educational system today, but is not limited to California alone--this crisis is indicative of the kind of collapse we see globally. Already, in recent years, tuition costs in the state university system have gone up between 25% and 40%; at the same time, aid to the growing number of poor students has been cut, loans have been cut and gone up in cost. The slashing of expenses will not just hit students in the UC and CSU systems, but faculty, the campus workforce, and classrooms and labs. Cuts will also target the already-strapped community colleges and junior colleges, as well as K through 12 public education.
In the response to this, students, unions and faculty across California issued a call for statewide demonstrations against the policies that have destroyed California's educational system and economy. This is the same manifestation of the mass strike that hit the nation in August, that hit Massachusetts in January, and that hit Texas last night.
What the population is experiencing-- their anger at this administration and at the policies that have destroyed their educational system--is real. The March 4 demonstrations are a response to that anger and are an opportunity to strike a resounding blow to this Administration and the global financial oligarchy. But the danger is that a void of leadership and lack of solution will cause a descent into chaos.
Rather, we must join with LaRouche and rally today around the only solution to this crisis. First, impeach Obama as an assertion that we're taking this nation back. Second, implement a global Glass-Steagall as the first step of the LaRouche plan-- take back the bank bail outs and sever the speculative financial system from the real economy. Thirdly, create an international credit system through the power of our Constitution to put people back to work and rebuild the nation with a science-driver mission to go to Mars.
We can take Kesha's March 2nd victory as a precedent for the rally's across California today and use them to implement the LaRouche Plan now! I'm not running just to get some Congressional seat -- the people cannot wait until November for a real economic recovery. We must act today to impeach Obama, reform the international economic system, and implement the LaRouche Plan immediately!
Last night, President Obama just lost Texas. Tomorrow, we're taking over the presidency of the United States.
